Thomas Tuchel believes PSG’s UEFA Champions League destiny is in their own hands despite being held to a 1-1 draw at Napoli.

Marseille have been hit with a two-match partial closure of Stade Velodrome’s south stand and a €50,000 fine after supporters targeted Paris Saint-Germain players, notably Neymar, with projectiles during their Oct. 28 match.

Ligue 1’s disciplinary committee announced the partial closure for one game plus an additional match due to a suspended sentence for previous crowd-related problems.

PSG won 2-0 thanks to goals from substitute Kylian Mbappe and Julian Draxler but the match was marred by the behaviour of the home fans before and during the game.

In the absence of travelling PSG fans because of a lack of sufficient local police resources, Marseille supporters clashed pregame with the authorities present and then targeted opposition players with projectiles over the course of the 90 minutes.

Neymar was targeted with a glass bottle at one point and was regularly prevented from taking corners immediately because of showers of coins and other objects that required security assistance to stop.

“It was hard to take corners,” Neymar said after the match. “I think that it showed a lack of respect, not only towards me but also to the Marseille players.

“This is not right and should not happen in football. The league must take action. We cannot let it continue that it is dangerous to come and play here each time.

“If the bottle thrown hits me on the head, it could cut me. It was dangerous. I do not agree with this sort of thing. I hope that the authorities will do what is necessary.”
